CFArgument - ColdFusion ORMs Are a Waste of Time?

In the latest edition of CFArgument available on Brian Rinaldis blog, we argue whether ColdFusion based Object Relational Mappers are a waste of time.

CFArgument - On Learning Something New

This week Brian and I debate Neil Middleton's controversial post "ColdFusion Developers - Please Learn Something New." Neil argues that ColdFusion developers need to broaden their horizons and learn a new language. He uses the example that after learning Ruby on Rails he has decided this is a superior solution to ColdFusion. However the overall point he is trying to make is that there is value in continually learning and exploring new languages . . .

CFArgument: State of the Fusion

Another week, another CFArgument. This time Brian and I discuss the positioning of ColdFusion in the larger web development community and some of the opportunities that come from Adobes successes in promoting Flex and the Railo/JBoss announcement.

See the posting on Brians blog.

And no Brian, more words NEQ more authority. Just more verbosity. Better luck next week :-)

CFArgument: Hibernate or Hiber-NOT :-)

Brian Rinaldi and I just had our first CF_Argument of the new year! The CFArgument Continues on Brian's Blog (the election edition)

Just had another CFArgument with Brian Rinaldi. Given that I spend most of my time proselytizing Object Oriented programming in CF, I thought it'd be a good exercise to argue the opposite position.

So, if you want to know why OO programming is a waste of space, check it out!

In this edition we decided to share the behind the scenes trash talking as well :-)

Any comments for this one should go on Brians blog, thanks!

Oh, and for the record, Brian's pollster also believes McCain is gonna win New York by 25 points. 'Nuff said.

CFArgument - DAOs are a Waste of Time!

This week Brian and I debate the merits of the Data Access Object (DAO) design pattern. The DAO is a core J2EE design pattern that has been adopted within the ColdFusion community and which you will generally find in object-oriented applications built with ColdFusion. Still, despite the fact that everyone is using them, could we all be wasting our time? . . .
