Requirements and Estimation Preso from SoTR
Just finished my requirements and estimation presentation from SoTR.
I haven't blogged about it as much as code gen, but I've spent a *lot* of time researching and trying out different methodologies and approaches to gathering requirements (it's one of the reasons I'll be at XP 2008 next week to chat more with the Poppendiecks about Lean and the various other Agile proponents). This preso covers our "Intent Driven Design" methodology and a bunch of other bits and pieces I've learnt over the years on handling requirements and estimating projects.
The presentation seemed to go pretty well, so I'm sure I'll work up some more materials on this topic for next year.

i've heard nothing but good things about fogbugz correcting your estimates as you do more projects.
i will say that i have found that my best estimates are when i really think things through. defining every little piece and how long they will take individually. if i can realize how complex it is before i give the estimate, then i am better off.
Many thanks for a great presentation. Although I usually go to Scotch for technical info, I got a few gems from your presentation that should easily justify the ticket price for this year and next.
Cheers.
