XP 2008 - When Six Conferences Just Aren't Enough!

I'm presenting at or attending six conferences in May/June, but I was talking with Tom Poppendieck the other night after Mary's talk @ Google in NYC. I got the impression that the XP conference in Limerick Ireland was just the conference I needed to hang out with the people who "really get" Agile/Lean/XP.

Checking my diary I saw I would just be finished with Scotch on the Rocks, and could just fit the XP conference in before flying back to the US to present at CF United.

I'm really excited about the conference. There is an excellent line up, and I really feel that Agile/Lean/XP/SCRUM along with Metaprogramming/Language Oriented Programming/Domain Specific Modeling is one of the best ways that developers can maximize the business value they can produce.

Looking forwards to lots of learning this year!

Wonder if I can talk the company into sending me out there. It's a direction I'd really like to take my team, but my practical experience isn't enough to lead us there as it stands right now.

XP will be smaller, but more intimate - mainly the top guys. The other option is Agile 2008 in August in Toronto which may be a cheaper flight. 1800 people - something like 30 tracks - it'll be crazy. For me it's the difference between cf.objective() and CF United - both have their place.

I *would* recommend attending something if you can - it really does help!

Here's my pitch: Ireland is roughly halfway between India and the US. If I can get there _along with_ one of my senior guys in India then we might be able to really capitalize on what we learn.

Still a stretch, but nothing ventured nothing gained, right? :-)

I'll take a look at the Toronto conf, too (another one of my favorite cities).
