Seventeen Inches on the Subway
Just as an FYI for anyone interested, you *can* indeed use a 17” MBP on a Manhattan subway pretty close to the rush hour. I had a thought I wanted to code up quickly and an email to respond to, so opened up and fired up the MBP on the subway. I think the very fact that it's clearly fairly valuable kept people further away than when I'm typing on the more diminutive eee. That said, I was glad to put the MBP safely into its backpack and to pull out an eee to blog about the experience . . .
I'm pretty sure the MBP will be fine at airports, won't work when flying economy and will be OK on a train providing it isn't too crowded, but I'll try all of the above in May and report the findings for anyone interested.
As a side note, I'm really loving the MBP. Just pulled it out as part of a presentation this morning. It was just a “sit round a conference table with a few people” kind of presentation, displaying some comp's they'd provided us for turning into HTML/CSS and it was impromptu, but having the 17” screen definitely made the experience better for both our resellers and us.
Definitely loving the 17” so far . . .

Finally Peter! You are hanging out with the cool kids! ;) A 17" Macbook Pro would be to wide for me but I'm certainly nowhere near on the go as much as you are! So you probably put the laptop to much more use than I do. I have a wider monitor at work so I'm not using the laptop screen as much. More importantly though you should put that MBP away and get some rest. You work insane hours my friend. :) Hope all is well.
