VAT in the UK Going to 15%

I'm sure this is old news for most people, but I've been speaking to a number of people today about the new VAT rate for UK based clients.

If you happen to have any UK clients with commerce websites that charge VAT, make sure to have a word with them about the VAT changes before next week as VAT is changing from 17.5% to 15% so you may have some edits to do before Monday!

Comments
It's definitely important to check, so much software has the 17.5% hardcoded

Remember, if you sell to end users, there is no obligation to change the VAT you charge them...

Tom,

I think you mean 'no obligation to change the PRICE you charge them'.

So if you charge a gross price you can keep on charging that price - but if the VAT amount is mentioned or broken down somewhere, then that has to change.

We've already picked up one new customer today looking for help changing their hardcoded Filemaker database...
