In Praise of Erlang

Ralph Johnson just wrote a nice overview of why you shoudl care about Erlang. And there's a nice new book out too.

Looks like I'll need to add it to my list of languages to learn . . . Anyone played with Erlang at all?

Not yet, but its been on my list.

Incidentally, at NFJS, Bruce Tate was talking about how Prag Dave pestered him enough to get into Ruby and finally he fell in love (from Java). On the other hand, he had been pushing Dave towards Erlang and finally Dave has made the leap. I didn't confirm with Dave, but I trust Bruce wouldn't lie to us.

Interesting! Well, the Prag Progs published the new Erlang book, so that'd make sense. Now it just needs a framework . . . Hmmmmm . . . "Erlang on E" - the framework that gives you Lovin?!

No, that framework would require too much constant attention, in an annoying way. Rather than being opinionated, it'd keep saying "touch me" or "let me touch you" or "blow on my face."

I think that may create too many dependencies.
