ActiveSchema: When the application builds the database on the fly

Nice to see we've finally got a fancy name from the RoR folks for what tools like Steve Bryants DataMgr have been doing for ages.

It can be a great approach for the use cases that it matches with (especially prototyping and small, quick greenfield developments) but must be used with caution like any other powerful technique!

Interestingly enough, its a been a feature of FarCry since the Neo Alpha. Infact, if you change your code FarCry attempts to give you the appropriate options to update your schema to match. You may find the 4.0 release (currently in beta) of particular interest as it goes some way to providing the sort of application generation features you're researching.
